A sourced comparison of 12 software development companies with a real base in Spain, from small senior studios to large consultancies, with transparent ranking criteria, Clutch data, best-fit notes and the questions to ask before you sign.

Authect publishes this list, and Authect is one of the companies in it. We are a founder-led software studio with a team in Madrid and Marbella, so we have an obvious interest in how this page reads. To keep it useful anyway, every competitor fact below comes from that company's own website or its Clutch profile, linked in each entry, and the ranking follows the weighted criteria set out in How we chose and ranked. Where a criterion counts against us, we say so.

The list is for companies that want a software development partner with a real base in Spain: Spanish businesses hiring locally, and companies elsewhere in Europe, the Middle East or the Americas looking for a nearshore team in the Central European time zone. It runs from small senior studios to consultancies with more than a thousand people, because the right choice depends far more on the size and shape of your project than on any single ranking.

Clutch ratings and rate bands as shown on each company's Clutch profile in November 2026. n/a means we found no Clutch profile with published reviews.

How we chose and ranked

We started from Clutch's directory of software developers in Spain, the companies Spanish buyers most often shortlist, and firms we know from the market. We kept companies that build custom software for clients (not product vendors or marketing agencies) and that have a real base in Spain: a headquarters or a staffed office, not a mailing address. Then we scored each one against the criteria below, using only what their own site and their Clutch profile show. Nobody paid to be included, and we did not contact any company before publishing.

CriterionPointsWhat we looked for
Seniority of the people doing the work20Whether the company says senior engineers lead and build, rather than only managing juniors
Direct access to decision-makers15Whether you deal with the people who make technical and commercial decisions, not only an account layer
Real presence in Spain, time zone and language15Staffed offices in Spain, CET working hours, Spanish and English
Code, IP and account ownership10A clear public statement that the client owns code, cloud accounts and IP
Transparency of pricing models10Published engagement models, rate bands or minimums
Relevant expertise10Breadth and depth across web, mobile, AI, cloud and data
Independent client reviews10Verified reviews on Clutch, weighted by volume and rating
Delivery process10A described, repeatable way of working: discovery, iterations, quality practices
Scoring criteria, out of 100 points

Two caveats. First, a ranking is a starting point, not a verdict: a company at number 10 may be the best possible choice for a specific job, and we say which jobs in each profile. Second, Authect scores zero on independent reviews, because we have no public Clutch reviews; we rank where we do because of seniority, founder access, ownership and pricing clarity. If verified reviews matter most to you, weight that criterion higher and the order changes.

1. Unimedia Technology

Unimedia is a small engineering company in the Mediterranean Technology Park just outside Barcelona. Its pitch is unusually specific: senior EU-based engineers who take a product from architecture to production and stay after launch, with the client owning the code, the cloud account and the IP from the first commit. Its services span AI and MCP development, custom software, cloud applications, customer portals, mobile apps, dedicated teams and support. It says it deliberately stays small.

  • Base: Castelldefels, near Barcelona; the team is EU-based and works in CET.
  • Founded: 2017 (Clutch). Size: 10–49 employees (Clutch).
  • Clutch: 4.7 from 7 reviews; $50–$99 per hour; minimum project $10,000+. Service focus led by custom software and AI development.
  • Engagement: time and materials with a capped sprint budget is common; fixed price where the scope is genuinely fixed (own site).
  • Clients named on its site: Zellar, Milbotix, The Neuron, UCL, MovieGlu, JAX Inc and Stage, among others.
  • Credentials it lists: ENS Medium certification and AWS Partner Network membership.
  • Sources: unimedia.tech, Clutch profile
  • Strengths: senior staffing on every engagement, explicit ownership terms, clear engagement models and a strong AI and cloud focus, all from a Barcelona base.
  • Best for: startups and scale-ups that want experienced engineers to build and run an AI-enabled product or cloud platform.
  • Consider: it is a deliberately small company, so very large programmes needing many parallel teams may fit a bigger firm better.

2. Authect

Authect is a founder-led software development studio headquartered in Dubai Silicon Oasis, with a team in Madrid and Marbella and partners in Lithuania. You talk to the founders who build your project, never a salesperson. Every project is led by a senior engineer, delivery is AI-accelerated with an engineer reviewing every line, and teams are kept small. Clients own the code, infrastructure and designs from day one, so there is no lock-in.

  • Base: HQ in Dubai; team in Dubai and Spain (Madrid, Marbella); partners in Lithuania.
  • Services: custom software, web, SaaS and mobile (iOS and Android), with AI and security as specialisms.
  • Engagement: fixed-price projects, monthly sprints, and support and evolution.
  • Clients: across Europe, the Middle East and beyond.
  • Clutch: no public reviews, so we show n/a.
  • Strengths: direct founder access from first call to launch, senior engineers doing the work, ownership from day one, and simple cooperation models. A team that spans Spain and the Gulf suits companies operating in both.
  • Best for: founders and business leaders who want the people writing the code to own the outcome, for a new product, a rebuild or a focused AI or security project.
  • Look elsewhere if: you need a 50-person team on day one, or you want a vendor with a long public track record of case studies and independent reviews. Several firms on this list offer exactly that.

3. Codurance

Codurance is a global software consultancy known for software craftsmanship: its co-founders started the London Software Craftsmanship Community in 2010, and its stated mission is to raise the bar in the industry through professionalism and technical excellence. It has offices in Barcelona and Madrid alongside London, Manchester, Leeds, Lisbon, New York and São Paulo. Its solutions cover AI-first software modernisation, feature delivery, cloud and platform engineering and data engineering, plus technical and AI due diligence for investors.

  • Base: Barcelona and Madrid offices; London headquarters (Clutch).
  • Founded: 2013 (Clutch). Size: 50–249 employees (Clutch).
  • Practices it lists: Agile and Lean, continuous delivery, Extreme Programming and DevOps culture.
  • Clients shown on its site: ASOS, Roche, Santander, HelloFresh, Marks and Spencer and UBS, among others.
  • Clutch: profile lists services and offices but no published reviews we could see, so we show n/a.
  • Sources: codurance.com, our story, Clutch profile
  • Strengths: a strong engineering-quality culture, modernisation and platform expertise, and enterprise and private-equity experience.
  • Best for: mid-market and enterprise teams modernising legacy systems or raising engineering standards, and investors needing technical due diligence.
  • Consider: rates and minimums are not published, and the consultancy model is geared to established organisations more than early-stage MVPs.

4. Nuvolar Works

Nuvolar Works is a Barcelona company combining strategy, design and technology. Its services are custom software development, AI and data, Salesforce consultancy, UX/UI design, and training and support. Its site lists offices in Barcelona, Madrid, Mexico City and Miami and more than 120 team members from over 20 nationalities, and says it has been solving digital challenges since 2007.

  • Base: Barcelona headquarters (Clutch), plus Madrid.
  • Size: 50–249 employees (Clutch); 120+ team members (own site).
  • Clutch: 4.8 from 4 reviews; $50–$99 per hour. Service focus led by custom software development.
  • Clients named on its site: Roche Diagnostics, Collins Aerospace, Casa Tarradellas, TravelPerk, Luxaviation, CareFirst and Payfit.
  • Sources: nuvolar.com, Clutch profile
  • Strengths: a mix of custom development and Salesforce expertise, and a recognisable client list across pharma, food and travel.
  • Best for: companies that need custom software built around, or alongside, a Salesforce estate.
  • Consider: it has a smaller number of Clutch reviews than some peers, so ask for references in your sector.

5. Plain Concepts

Plain Concepts is a large technology firm founded in 2006 with more than 700 people. In Spain it lists offices in Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Sevilla and León, with further offices in Frankfurt, London, Seattle, Rotterdam, Dubai, Bucharest, Dublin and Porto. • Certifications it lists: ISO 9001, 27001, 27701 and 14001.
  • Case studies on its site: Heijmans (digital twins), PremFina (AI automation) and a modularisation and analytics framework for Zara's iOS app.
  • Clutch: $100–$149 per hour; minimum project $25,000+; no published reviews we could see, so we show n/a.
  • Sources: plainconcepts.com, offices, Clutch profile
  • Strengths: scale, a wide service range, formal certifications and five Spanish offices.
  • Best for: large organisations running AI, data or engineering programmes that need many specialists and enterprise governance.
  • Consider: the size and rate band are geared to substantial programmes; small products or MVPs may get more attention from a smaller studio.

6. Acid Tango

Acid Tango is a Madrid software agency that builds digital products from scratch and evolves existing ones, with a team of developers, designers and strategists. Its headline is about reimagining corporate innovation through world-class digital products, and its site argues that each phase of the product lifecycle needs different practices and people. Logos on its site include Wallbox, Edenred, Dia, Declarando and Wondo.

  • Base: Madrid headquarters, plus San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife (Clutch).
  • Founded: 2012 (Clutch). Size: 10–49 employees (Clutch).
  • Clutch: 4.7 from 9 reviews; $50–$99 per hour; minimum project $10,000+. Service focus split between custom software, mobile apps and UX/UI design.
  • Sources: acidtango.com, Clutch profile
  • Strengths: product design and engineering under one roof, with experience from startups to large Spanish brands.
  • Best for: corporate innovation teams and startups building a new web or mobile product in Spain.
  • Consider: its site gives little detail on process and pricing, so ask for a sample plan and estimate early.

7. Paradigma Digital

Paradigma Digital calls itself a technology boutique with personality. It began as Paradigma Tecnológico in 2007, has joined Indra's ecosystem and is a certified B Corp. Its work covers platform engineering, legacy modernisation, data, complex digital products and organisational transformation, and it describes an agile approach called Polaris. Its site features work for EUROCONTROL, Telefónica, Naturgy and PRISA.

  • Base: Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid; it also describes a fully remote model, Paradigma Everywhere.
  • Founded: 2007 (as Paradigma Tecnológico).
  • Technology partners it lists: Google Cloud, Red Hat, AWS and Microsoft.
  • Clutch: no profile found, so we show n/a.
  • Sources: paradigmadigital.com, English site
  • Strengths: cloud-native and platform engineering at enterprise scale, with large public and private references.

  • Experience: over 20 years, according to its investor page.
  • Client stories on its site: Banco Sabadell, Ferrovial, Grupo Educativo Nebrija and UNOde50.
  • Clutch: no profile found, so we show n/a.
  • Sources: sngular.com, investors
  • Strengths: breadth of disciplines, international reach and the reporting discipline of a listed company.
  • Best for: enterprises that want one partner for many workstreams, including Atlassian, data and cybersecurity work.
  • Consider: as a large consultancy it suits broad programmes more than a single small product build.

9. Two.Zero

  • Strengths: long local track record, e-commerce and ERP integration, and familiarity with Spanish grant schemes.
  • Best for: Spanish SMEs connecting an online shop, ERP and apps.
  • Consider: its focus is business systems and e-commerce; complex SaaS or AI products may need a more specialised team.

11. Lasting Dynamics

Lasting Dynamics has offices in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Naples, with sales and marketing in Stavanger. It builds bespoke web and mobile software, AI, SaaS, UI/UX, AR/VR/XR, blockchain and games, and supports EU tenders and Horizon Europe projects. • Strengths: a broad technical range including XR and AI, strong Clutch reviews and a lower rate band than most on this list.
  • Best for: mobile, AI and immersive projects, and teams preparing EU-funded or tender-based work.
  • Consider: the Spanish base is in the Canary Islands, one hour behind mainland Spain, and part of the team is in Italy.

12. 2Coders Studio

  • Consider: it is a specialist; for general business software, a generalist studio is a closer fit.

How to choose the right company for your project

Start with the shape of your project, not the ranking. A three-month MVP, a five-year platform programme and an e-commerce rebuild need different partners. Write down what you are building, who will use it, your deadline, and how much of the decision-making you want to keep in-house. Our guide on how to choose a software development company goes deeper; this checklist covers the essentials.

  1. Meet the people who will build it. Ask who will lead the work and write the code, and speak to them before signing.
  2. Check ownership in writing. The contract should give you the code, the repositories, the cloud accounts and the designs, from the start rather than on final payment.
  3. Match the pricing model to your certainty. Fixed price suits a well-defined scope; time and materials or monthly sprints suit products that will change as you learn. Our fixed price vs time and materials guide explains the trade-off.
  4. Read the reviews, then call references. Clutch reviews are verified but short; a 20-minute call with a past client in your sector tells you more.
  5. Ask how they use AI. Most studios now use AI tools. Ask who reviews the output, and how they protect your code and data.
  6. Confirm working hours and language. Spain works on CET (the Canary Islands one hour behind), and most firms here work in Spanish and English. Agree on overlap hours and the language of documentation.
  7. Plan for after launch. Ask what support looks like, who fixes production issues and how quickly.

Questions to ask on the first call

  • Who exactly will work on our project, and how senior are they?
  • Who do we speak to when something goes wrong, and can that person make decisions?
  • What would you do in the first two weeks?
  • Which of your past projects is closest to ours, and can we speak to that client?
  • How do you estimate, and what happens when the scope changes?
  • When do we get access to the repository, the cloud accounts and the designs?
  • What do you need from us each week to keep things moving?

Which type of company fits

Freelancers

Good for small, well-defined tasks and prototypes, and the cheapest way to get code written. The risk is concentration: one person's availability, skills and continuity. Make sure you own the repository and accounts, and that someone else could pick up the work.

Boutique studios

Small senior teams, often founder-led, such as Unimedia, Authect, Two.Zero or Acid Tango on this list. You usually talk directly to the people building and deciding, and a small team moves quickly. The trade-off is capacity: a studio of this size cannot staff several large parallel workstreams at once.

Mid-size agencies

Teams of roughly 50 to a few hundred, such as Nuvolar Works, Codurance or Lasting Dynamics. They combine specialist roles (design, QA, DevOps) with room to scale a team up. Expect more process and a project manager between you and the engineers; ask to meet the technical lead.

Large consultancies

Hundreds or thousands of people across many disciplines and countries, such as Plain Concepts, Sngular or Paradigma Digital. They suit enterprise programmes that need governance, certifications and many teams. For a single focused product, the overhead may outweigh the benefit.

The best predictor of how a project will go is the first technical conversation. If the people you will work with ask sharp questions about your users and your constraints, that is worth more than any badge.

Hiring a Spanish team from abroad

Spain is a popular nearshore base for companies in the UK, northern Europe and the Gulf: mainland Spain shares a working day with most of Europe and overlaps several hours with the Middle East and the US East Coast. Barcelona and Madrid have the deepest talent pools, but strong teams also work from Valencia, Málaga, the Basque Country and the Canary Islands. When you compare a Spanish team with one further afield, compare the whole cost of delivery, including time lost to handovers and waiting, not only the hourly rate. Our nearshore development page explains how we work this way, and the software cost calculator gives a first estimate in weeks and team shape.

About this list

Last checked: November 2026. Details change; confirm with each company. If you work at one of the companies listed and something here is out of date or wrong, email info@authect.com and we will correct it. If you want to talk to the founders about your own project, get in touch.

Частые вопросы

Which is the best software development company in Spain?

There is no single best company; it depends on your project. On our criteria, Unimedia Technology ranks first for senior, ownership-first custom development, with Authect second for founder-led builds. For large enterprise programmes, Plain Concepts, Sngular and Paradigma Digital are stronger fits, and for streaming apps 2Coders is the specialist.

How much do Spanish software development companies charge?

Rates vary with company size and seniority. The Clutch profiles in this list show hourly bands from $25–$49 up to $100–$149, and minimum projects from $5,000 to $25,000 or more. Compare total delivery cost and team seniority, not the hourly rate alone, and use a cost calculator to estimate effort in weeks before you request quotes.

Is Spain a good nearshore location for software development?

For European and Middle Eastern companies it often is. Mainland Spain works on Central European Time, most development firms work in English as well as Spanish, and Barcelona and Madrid have large technical communities. As with any location, the quality of the specific team matters more than the country.

Why is Authect on a list that Authect publishes?

Because we are a software studio with a team in Spain and we think we belong on it, but we disclose that at the top and publish the criteria so readers can judge the ranking themselves. We score ourselves zero on independent reviews because we have no public Clutch reviews, and we rank another company first.

Did any company pay to be included?

No. Nobody paid for inclusion or position, and we did not contact the companies before publishing. Every competitor fact comes from the company's own website or its Clutch profile, linked in each entry.

Should I choose a large consultancy or a small studio?

Choose a large consultancy if you need many parallel teams, formal certifications and enterprise governance. Choose a small senior studio if you want direct access to the people building your product and a fast, focused team. Many companies use both: a consultancy for a broad programme and a studio for a specific product.

What should a software development contract in Spain include?

At minimum: a clear statement that you own the code, designs and IP; access to repositories and cloud accounts from the start; the pricing model and how changes are handled; acceptance criteria; data protection terms under the GDPR; and support arrangements after launch. Have a lawyer review it if the project is large.
