Cyber Security Services
Find the weak points in your software and infrastructure before attackers do, fix them in order of risk and build security into how you deliver, with the founders and senior engineers doing the work themselves.
Talk to the foundersWhat you get with Authect's cyber security services
Security is easiest to get right when it's part of how software is built, and most expensive when it's an afterthought. We look at your products, infrastructure and processes the way an attacker would, report what we find in plain language and help you fix it, starting with the issues that put your business at most risk.
We're software engineers first, so our recommendations come with working fixes, not just a report. Every engagement is led by a senior engineer, with the founders involved from the first call, and we leave you with stronger controls, clearer processes and a team that knows how to keep them in place.
How we work
How we deliver our cyber security services
We start from your requirements and the standards that apply to your industry, find the gaps, recommend what to change and, if you want, put those changes in place with you.
Discovery
We agree the scope with you and map the product, system or process in question: how data flows, who has access, which third parties are involved and what you're required to comply with. That gives us a shared understanding of what matters most and where to look first.

Assessment and testing
We test your applications and infrastructure with a mix of automated scanning and manual work: penetration tests on web, mobile and APIs, cloud configuration reviews, dependency and secrets checks, and a look at how access is granted and revoked. Testing is planned with you so it never disrupts your users.

Analysis
We separate real risks from noise. Each finding is confirmed, rated by how likely it is to be exploited and how much damage it could do, and linked to its root cause, so you fix the underlying problem rather than one symptom.

Reporting
You get a clear report with an executive summary for leadership and technical detail for engineers: what we found, how we found it, why it matters and exactly how to fix it, in priority order. We walk you through it, so nothing is left open to interpretation.

Implementation
Because we build software every day, we can fix what we find: patching code, hardening configurations, tightening access, adding encryption and logging, and building security checks into your delivery pipeline. Each fix is retested before we call it done.

Ongoing security
Security isn't a one-off. We can keep watch with regular dependency and vulnerability scans, periodic retests, patching and reviews of new features before they ship, so your protection keeps pace with your product.

Customer feedback
Working with Authect transformed our digital infrastructure. Their engineering team delivered our complex trading algorithm platform two weeks ahead of schedule without sacrificing code quality or security compliance. The seamless communication and deep technical expertise made them a true strategic partner.

How our cyber security services benefit your organisation
Good security protects more than your systems. It keeps customers' trust, shortens procurement conversations and lets your team ship with confidence.
- 01
Lighten the compliance burden
An independent, expert review of your processes, products and systems against the standards and regulations that apply to you, with a clear plan to close the gaps and the evidence auditors and customers ask for.
- 02
Survive attacks you can't prevent
We help you find and fix security issues before launch, and design systems that limit the damage if something does go wrong: least-privilege access, segmented networks, encrypted data and tested backups.
- 03
Know your security controls actually work
Policies on paper aren't protection. We check that your controls work in practice, from multi-factor sign-in to alerting, so you can keep operating and focus on your core business.
- 04
Strengthen your overall security posture
We take you through a structured look at your information assets, how they're used and what threatens them, then put the right controls in place for each risk, in proportion to what's at stake.
- 05
Build a security strategy that lasts
Beyond fixing today's findings, we help you tackle the root causes of risk with a practical improvement plan, so security gets stronger with each release instead of resetting after each audit.
Services

Tailored security services we offer
Penetration testing
Hands-on testing of your web, mobile and desktop applications, APIs and infrastructure, using the techniques real attackers use and guided by the OWASP Top 10 and similar references.
Security testing in your pipeline
Static and dynamic security testing, dependency scanning and secret detection built into your CI/CD, so new vulnerabilities are caught in code review, not in production.
Vulnerability assessment
A broad review of your systems and cloud accounts for known weaknesses, misconfigurations and out-of-date components, with each issue ranked by real-world risk.
Compliance readiness
Gap and readiness assessments against frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS and the NIS2 Directive, with the technical and process changes needed to meet them.
Security audits and risk assessment
A structured review of your security policies, access management, incident response and business continuity, with risks assessed and documented so you can make informed decisions.
Privacy and data protection
We trace where personal data lives and moves in your systems, then help you minimise, encrypt and govern it in line with GDPR and similar privacy laws.
Security built into every product we deliver
Testing finds problems; good engineering prevents them. When we build or modernise software, security is part of the design, not a checklist at the end. Threats are considered when we plan the architecture, and every change goes through automated checks and a senior engineer's review before it ships.
Our delivery is AI-accelerated, but no generated code reaches production without an engineer reading it, and that review includes security. The result is software that is easier to audit, quicker to certify and safer for your customers.
Built in from the first sprint:
- Threat modelling when the architecture is designed
- Secrets kept out of code, with access granted per person and per service
- Dependency, static and dynamic scans on every change
- Encryption in transit and at rest, and audit logging by default
- Infrastructure as code, reviewed like application code

What we check
What a security review with us looks at
Every review is scoped to your systems and risks, but these are the areas we almost always examine, because they're where real breaches tend to start.
Identity and access
Sign-in, multi-factor authentication, roles and how quickly access is removed when people leave.
Secrets and credentials
API keys, passwords and tokens: where they're stored, who can see them and how they're rotated.
Third-party code
Open-source libraries and packages with known vulnerabilities or no longer maintained.
Cloud configuration
Public storage, open ports, over-broad permissions and missing guardrails in your cloud accounts.
Data protection
Encryption, data retention and how personal and sensitive data moves through your systems.
APIs and integrations
Authentication, input validation, rate limiting and what each integration is allowed to do.
Logging and alerting
Whether you'd notice an attack in progress, and whether the logs would tell you what happened.
Backups and recovery
Whether backups are complete, protected from tampering and actually restorable in a crisis.
Insights
FAQs
Cyber security FAQs
What do cyber security services include?
They cover finding, fixing and preventing security weaknesses in your software, infrastructure and processes. With us that means penetration testing of web, mobile and desktop applications, APIs and infrastructure, vulnerability assessments, security testing in your CI/CD pipeline, compliance readiness, security audits and risk assessment, and privacy and data protection work. Because we're software engineers first, we can also fix what we find, and we retest each fix before calling it done.
What is the difference between a vulnerability assessment and a penetration test?
A vulnerability assessment is broad; a penetration test is deep. An assessment reviews your systems and cloud accounts for known weaknesses, misconfigurations and out-of-date components, ranked by real-world risk. A penetration test is hands-on: we use the techniques real attackers use to see how far a weakness can actually be exploited in your applications, APIs and infrastructure. Many clients start with an assessment, then test their most critical systems in depth.
How long does a penetration test or security review take?
It depends on the scope: how many applications, APIs and cloud accounts are involved and how deep the testing goes. We agree the scope with you in discovery, plan testing so it never disrupts your users, and tell you when to expect the report before we start. When it's ready, we walk you through every finding, and any fixes we make are retested before we close them.
How much do cyber security services cost?
It depends on scope. The number of systems, the depth of testing and whether you want us to fix what we find all affect the effort. We quote each engagement individually after a free scoping conversation with the founders, not a salesperson, so the figure reflects your systems and risks. If you're also planning new development, the software development cost calculator on our website gives you a rough first idea of that side.
Can you help us prepare for ISO 27001, SOC 2 or GDPR?
Yes, compliance readiness is one of our core security services. We run gap and readiness assessments against frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS and the NIS2 Directive, then help you make the technical and process changes needed to meet them, with the evidence auditors and customers ask for. For certifications such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2, the formal audit is carried out by an independent auditor; we get you ready for it.
What do we get at the end of a security review?
You get a clear, prioritised report and, if you want them, the fixes. The report has an executive summary for leadership and technical detail for engineers: what we found, how we found it, why it matters and exactly how to fix it. The engineers who did the testing walk you through it. Because we build software every day, we can then patch code, harden configurations and add security checks to your delivery pipeline.
