Data Strategy Consulting

Decide what your data should do for the business, then make it happen: strategy, implementation and ongoing support from a founder-led team that builds what it recommends.

Talk to the founders

What you get with Authect's data strategy consulting

A data strategy is only worth the decisions it changes. We help you work out which questions matter most to the business, what data you need to answer them, and how to organise people, processes and technology around it, then we stay to help you build it.

You get one framework for collecting, managing and analysing data across the organisation, so teams stop duplicating work and start sharing a single, trusted view. Because the people who write the strategy are senior engineers who also deliver it, every recommendation is one we know how to implement, and the founders are involved from the first workshop.

What we do

What we offer within our data strategy consulting

Three areas of work, usually in this order. You can start with any of them, depending on how mature your data already is.

Data audit

A complete view of the data your company holds and how it's used. We review sources, systems, ownership, quality, security and costs, and talk to the people who produce and depend on the data. You get a clear report of strengths, risks and quick wins, which helps with efficiency, risk management and capacity planning straight away.

Data management, BI and insights

We put the foundations in place to turn data into decisions: a governed source of truth, consistent definitions for the metrics that matter, and reports and dashboards that each team can use without waiting for an analyst. The aim is simple: everyone works from the same numbers.

Data monetisation

Your data can be worth more than the reports it feeds. We help you find and test new value in it, from smarter features in your products and better-targeted services to data products you can share with partners, always with privacy, consent and security designed in from the start.

Customer feedback

Working with Authect transformed our digital infrastructure. Their engineering team delivered our complex trading algorithm platform two weeks ahead of schedule without sacrificing code quality or security compliance. The seamless communication and deep technical expertise made them a true strategic partner.

Service benefits

How data strategy consulting transforms your business

  1. 01

    Make informed decisions

A solid framework for analysing your data lets you test scenarios, understand customer behaviour and spot trends early, so decisions rest on evidence rather than instinct.

  2. 02

    Work more efficiently

Unifying data management across the organisation removes duplicated reports and repeated data entry, freeing your teams to focus on work that moves the business forward.

  3. 03

    Open new revenue streams

Embedding data into your products and services, or sharing it responsibly with partners, can create new value for customers and new income for you.

  4. 04

    Stay compliant and secure

Every initiative is planned with privacy, integrity and security in mind, and with the regulations that apply to your sector and the markets you operate in.

  5. 05

    Help departments work together

Clear rules for who owns which data, how it's defined and how to access it make collaboration easier and stop each team building its own version of the truth.

Our process

Our data strategy consulting process

The process has two halves: designing the strategy, then executing it. Many consultancies stop after the first. We don't, because a strategy only proves itself in delivery.

  1. 01

    As-is analysis

We start with one question: what does your data landscape look like today? Whatever your starting point, we map your sources, systems, skills, processes and pain points, and measure how mature your data practice really is.

  2. 02

    To-be analysis

Together we define where you want to be: the decisions data should support, the capabilities you'll need, the target architecture and the governance model that holds it together.

  3. 03

    Transition planning

We turn the gap between the two into a roadmap of initiatives, ordered by value and complexity, with owners, milestones, costs and risks for each.

  4. 04

    End-to-end guidance

As the strategy rolls out, we stay alongside your leadership to track progress against the targets, adjust priorities as the business changes and keep every initiative pointing the same way.

  5. 05

    Implementation support

Our engineers build what the roadmap calls for, from data platforms and pipelines to BI and machine learning, or support your own team as they do it.

Start your data strategy with a clear picture of where you are today.

FAQs

Data strategy FAQs

What is a data strategy?

A data strategy is a plan for what your data should do for the business and how you'll organise people, processes and technology to get there. It sets out which questions matter most, what data you need to answer them, who owns it, how it's governed and which initiatives come first. A good one changes decisions; ours ends in a prioritised roadmap your teams can start delivering in the coming months.

What do we get at the end of a data strategy engagement?

You get a practical plan you can act on, not a document to file away. Typical deliverables are assessment reports on data management, analytics maturity, stakeholder needs and technology; a strategy with the mission, vision and principles for your data; a roadmap with timeline, milestones and measurable goals, prioritised by value and complexity; a target-state description for each initiative; and a risk management plan.

How long does it take to create a data strategy?

It depends on the size of your organisation, how many data sources and teams are involved and how mature your data practice already is. A data audit on its own is a smaller piece of work than a full as-is and to-be analysis with a transition plan. After a first conversation we propose a scope and schedule in writing, and the roadmap starts with initiatives your teams can deliver in the coming months.

How much does data strategy consulting cost?

It depends on scope. A fixed-scope assessment and roadmap is a smaller commitment than having us alongside you for the whole transformation. We quote each engagement individually after a free scoping conversation with the founders, so the figure reflects your situation rather than a rate card. If the roadmap leads to building platforms or applications, the software development cost calculator on our website gives a rough first idea of that side.

Where should we start if our data is scattered or messy?

Most organisations start with a data audit. We review your sources, systems, ownership, quality, security and costs, and talk to the people who produce and depend on the data. You get a clear report of strengths, risks and quick wins, which is useful straight away and gives the rest of the strategy a solid starting point. You don't need a mature data practice to begin.

Do you also implement the strategy?

Yes, and that's the main difference from many consultancies. Our engineers build what the roadmap calls for, from data platforms and pipelines to BI and machine learning, or support your own team as they do it. Because the people who write the strategy are senior engineers who also deliver it, every recommendation is one we know how to implement, and nothing gets lost in a hand-over.

Tell us what you’re building. A founder replies within one working day, and builds it with you.

We will add your details to our CRM so we can contact you about your request. For more information, read our privacy policy.
